Cockayne Young Volunteer Reviewers Scheme, 2025/6

Following the success of Cockayne’s inaugural 10th Anniversary Young Volunteer Reviewers scheme, Cockayne would like to once again invite young arts enthusiasts, aged 20 - 30, to consider volunteering to assist the foundation in reviewing the arts projects it supports in the 2025/6 season.

The role is unpaid but reviewers will be provided with event tickets for themselves and a companion plus reasonable travel expenses. Volunteers must be based in London and prepared to travel to events across the capital mainly in the evening both during the week and at weekends. They should also be open to attending a variety of different art forms/ genres with a diversity of cultural and social perspectives (for the type of projects Cockayne supports see the What We Do section of this website).

In return volunteers will be required to submit a brief written review of their experience, of not more than 350 words, within a week of any event they have attended on behalf of the foundation. Cockayne hopes thereby to incorporate the diverse views of a younger generation of arts enthusiasts into its assessment and grant decision processes. For the first Young Reviewer, Eleanor O’Donovan’s experience of the scheme see here.

This unpaid role will run for 12 months, from September 2025 to September 2026.

All interested applicants should send a letter detailing why they would like to be considered for the scheme plus a copy of their CV and brief reviews of at least 4 arts events they have attended within the last year to Jo Hedley, Executive Director of Cockayne at info@cockaynefoundation.org

The deadline for applications is 31 May 2025.

In person interviews will be held in central London in June 2025.

Eleanor O’Donovan was appointed Young Reviewer for 2023/4 and you can read her review of the process here.
